Arenacross UK is a new four round series that kicked off in London on Saturday 12th January 2013! The Monster Energy series has both Supercross racing and freestyle motocross both going down in an action packed arenas across the UK! With an awesome line-up of riders and sold out venues, this series went off!

The opening round of Arenacross 2013 was a truly awesome night. A packed out crowd at the O2 arena in the heart of London were lucky enough to be part of three adrenaline charged rounds of FMX spread throughout the night of racing.

The first round of FMX kicked off after a few rounds of racing and right off the bat Spainard FMX OG Edgar Torronteras decided to throw one of the most rediculous whips I have ever witnessed – more twisted than John Wayne Gacy on acid! Did he land it you ask? Did he fuck! There was no way even the Spanish whip king was pulling this one back round. Edgar got spat out at the bottom of the landing ramp and the entire stadium were on their feet, not quite sure they could believe their eyes. Edgar dusted himself off and was back hitting the ramp in no time. Edgar continued to pull out some super tech combination tricks throughout the night, and his cliffhanger extensions are now unlike anyone elses on a dirt bike!

The O2 crowd were also privelaged to get to watch one of the world’s best freestyle riders in the form of Norweigan legend Andre Villa. Villa has recently switched from his YZ250 to a KX450, and seemed super relaxed on the monster Kawasaki, and had no issues whipping and flipping the green beast around.

All the UK riders held there own against the European heavyweights for sure. Chris Birch’s Nac flips got the crowd going wild, and Jamie Squibb’s steezy whips earned him his usual abundance of style points! Both these riders now spend much of the English winter riding in the sun down in Spain with Andre Villa, and you can see how much this has helped progress their riding.

Dan Whitby and Dave Wiggins were throwing down hard too. Wiggins’ turndown’s have got ludacrous this year, and Whitby’s seat grab variations are up there with the best. It was great to see the UK riders represent in front of the London crowd, and they all said how much they enjoyed it, and how amazing the crowd were!
