Joel has taken out the first round win at the Australian Underground FMX Championship at Coonabarabran at the beginning of August and is riding high on his recent success to become Australia’s newest addition to the Night of the Jumps FIM World Championship rider line-up.

Brown, 28, has been a regular at Australian and New Zealand FMX competitions since 2004, and has been one of the riders to beat at the RFDmx AFMXC series which is into its 6th year of competitions.

UNIT rider, Joel had to contend with a strong 16-rider field including Matt Schubring, who has been one of Australia’s best and innovative riders, however Joel’s bag of flip tricks and combo’s were enough to seal his place on top of the podium.

“I’m really happy with how I rode at the first round.  It was the first time I flipped the 110ft ramp, and I put together a good run with the new flip tricks I’ve been working on, especially the Seat Grab Indy Flip over the 110 footer!”

Stepping into the World Championship arena will be a new and exciting challenge, competing against European and World Champions and X Games medalist riders such as Dany Torres, David Rinaldo, Libor Podmol, but Joel said he is ready for the opportunity.

“I have competed at X-Knights in Costa Rica earlier this year which was a learning curve, I’ve worked on a lot of new tricks, new combo’s and I have built new ramps to get used to overseas competitions.  I’ve also been riding a lot of shows in China with ARD and feel good riding over there.”

“I can’t wait to get Beijing for Night of the Jumps and test myself against some of the best riders in the world!”Brown is supported by UNIT, The Collective Family, Filtrate Eyewear, Fusion, Fist Handwear, Kirkman Motorcycles, Motul, RK Chains, Oneal Racing, Gaerne.
